“Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.”
The easy answer in regards to contentment is that it should be shunned. Why be content some say? You will stagnate and not achieve your goals. The opposing view is that being content with where you are, what you have, and who you are with is how to live in the now. We can hold this view while at the same time working on improvement in various areas of life. Discontent as a default state can cause errors in judgment. If you have a girlfriend you are with and are aimlessly discontent (no reason for it), you may make a decision to break up with her. Why did you do that? I don’t know, maybe there’s something better out there? That’s not good enough. If you are discontent with your situation, you need to have a direct purpose. Otherwise, be content with where you are at, what you have, and who you are with. Challenge current thoughts.
