Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
Talent is a gift. We all have talents. Some are more apparent than others. In the athletic realms, it is easily noticed. But why so often do we see talent get wasted? Why so often do we see talented individuals let their talent take them places instead of their hard work?
People mistake their talent for excellence. Talent can make you achieve excellent results.
But HARD WORK + TALENT = EXCELLENCE.
This is why so many “average” looking people who work ridiculously hard achieve greatness – achieve excellence.
Talent can be DEVELOPED through hard work. Most of us do not like to do those things over and over and over until we master it.
The question arises often, “what ‘insert big thing’ do I need to do to take me to the next level?”
It’s not the big things in life that take you to the top.
It’s the LITTLE THINGS multiplied over TIME that take you to the top.
Daily disciplines – daily sacrifices – saying NO – saying YES to your dreams
Don’t use your talent to be excellent – use your discipline, commitment, and work ethic to become excellent. Then you will have developed a talent in the process.
